What I'm Watching: Without paying attention

My day job results in me working from home a lot (thanks, open plan offices!). I find it difficult to work in complete silence, but find a lot of shows either too distracting or too infuriatingly dull. Occasionally though the TV gods will release a show that hits the sweet spot. Entertaining with no attention required. These shows usually only have one or two seasons so you have to be on your toes to come across them. The latest that have helped my work juices flow at just the right pace are both from Netflix.

Don't trust the B- in Apt 23 was released in 2012 with only 26 half hour episodes. The tale of two flatmates, one who is the city Bitch and the other the middle American sweetheart. Over the course of the two seasons they learn to be a little bit more like the other. James Van Der Beek plays himself who also happens to be the bitch's best friend. Like most women in their 30's I grew up with Dawsons Creek and was definitely team Pacey, I do however love his performance in DTTBIA23, it is always good to see an actor who can laugh at themselves.

My other recommendation is Friends from College. Released this year it only has one season of 9 episodes so far but according to IMBD is schedule to release season 2 next year. The story of six friends from college who are now all grown up in their 30s/40s. Two of the friends are married although one his having an long time affair. It is as dark as real life tends to be but has a balance of well timed comedic relief. I found the last episodes a little more addictive so watch out!

The age of Netflix, Stan, Apple TV, and Amazon have introduced a whole new era of watching. I am constantly finding shows that are new and different to anything I have scene before, and I am sure there is a whole lot out there that I havent come across yet. Let me know in the comments below what all you night owls and working from homers are not distracting yourselfs with,

XX LH
